Cup of coffee and a catch up.

Well its been a while!. I hope you are all well and have been enjoying the start of spring. I have taken a week or so off from blogging. been trying to catch up on all my emails, accounts and all the other boring jobs I try to put off for as long as possible.

 But I am back! And I have lots of fab posts to share. Home inspiration, vintage parenting and other vintage/mothering chit chat. So grab a coffee and lets catch up with whats been going on with myself and my vintage family the last week or so.

  Life according to my htc.

The bathroom is almost finished!! My dad finished the tiling last week so Luke has been putting all the extras in. We are  struggling massively to find a dark blue/navy and white chequered vinyl floor. Does anyone know of a company that sells it?.

I been going a bit crazy with a handheld sander and a paint brush. There is method in some of my crazy pieces of furniture I have found, wait and see the finished results. I'm sure they will look brilliant! ;)

I have been trying to clear some of my older stock to make way for different pieces, I have been so busy I haven't really had time to sort through it all. But I did have a good clean and move around. Very excited to get lots of new (well old) stock. ready for the Spring and Summer!.

I did another window display for le salon chic it was a spring/mothers day/Easter tea party inspired display.

We took the children to the lazy bones bootsale on Sunday. This 1950's toy cat and Pyrex jug are my favourite finds of the day. We did manage to find lots of lovely things though and the sun shined all morning.

A little update!.

Hello!.

 Apologies as I know I have been very quiet on the blogging front. My little girl has been very poorly and we spent most of the weekend in hospital. Thankfully she is on the road to recovery!. I just thought I would do a post with some pictures and let you know what we have been up to over the past few days, as I have a little one to nurse so must be quick!.
 

There has been lots of activity at the house. My husbands dad has been painting Poppy's room and my dad has been tiling the bathroom. Aren't we lucky to have such lovely pa's!.

I was asked to do the window display for Le salon chic again. If you remember I did one back in December see here The theme was Valentines. Unfortunately as Pops was in hospital I didn't get to help put the display together, but I gave all my props to the girls, and I think you will all agree it looks fabulous!.

As Pops is feeling much better today we decided to plant our strawberry and tomato seeds. They are sitting on the kitchen side just waiting for a sunny day.

Pops favourite medicine has been the Beatles song 'When I'm 64'. We have listened to it on repeat for 3 days! And she now knows nearly all the words. If your feeling a bit low, stick it on!.



 And last but not least I have been putting together a proposal for my book see here I didn't quite realise myself how passionate I felt about the whole thing. And its been so therapeutic after a stressful few days. Definitely a good distraction!.

Vintage boudior

Just a little post with a couple of piccies of the window display I created for Le Salon Chic. I think it looks lovely.

I used a lovely old desk/dresser and an upcycled mirror. A 1920's dressing table set, 1920's glass vase, a stunning 1920's blue and white perfume bottle, vintage glass trinket, babycham glasses (of course a girl needs champagne when she's getting ready!), a blue and white teacup, vintage glass bottle, vintage chanel talc, a lovely old photograph and some old fabrics.

I had so much fun putting it together and for my first attempt at something like this I am quite pleased. Let me know what you think..

Dressing tables and displays...

I am so excited to have been asked to create a vintage inspired beauty/dressing table window display for 'Le Salon Chic'. A fabulous beauty salon situated on Thorpe Bay Broadway.

It is a stunning salon decorated with beautiful french furntiure, toile wallpaper and has an air of 'Pride and prejudice'. With it's rich draped fabric in the window, regal chairs and pedicure thrones. Not forgetting the amazing trolleys the therapist use for their products!.

I have been looking online for some inspiration and it has got me thinking.
I think every girl needs a dressing table. Somewhere to escape from the rest of the house and make your self feel amazing!. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels horrible if you haven't had time to do your make up or hair properly for an evening out.

In years gone by every woman took pride in their apperance and would make sure each wave, lash and nail were perfect. Look at these simply stunning pictures and you will understand what I am talking about.

It doesn't cost the earth to create your very own vintage glam dressing table. Add a comfy stool and lots of pretty glass. Put your perfume on show. Drape jewellery over the dresser and stratgecially place tea lights for pure induldgence.

Le Salon Chic will be unveiling their christmas decorations and window display on 7th November. So make sure you pop in. Have a look round the salon and what it has to offer.
