1960's wedding dress!!

I stumbled upon this Simon Ellis 1960's lace gown by complete accident!
WHAT A BEAUTY!!!
(Excuse my photography!. But I was itching to show you all the dress. Even on my blackberry you can still see how beautiful the dress is!!!!)

The dress in full. Pretty silver detail around neck and front of dress.

Typical 60's bell sleeves with silver trim. The lace on the arms has no under fabric, the dress does.

This is a size 12, PERFECT condition. The previous owner only ever wore this the once and it is truly wonderful.

Here are a few images for some inspiration. Team this dress with a beehive bun and a short 60's veil.

Stunning!

I wish I could wear this to my wedding, but it was two years ago! But, I know some elegant bride is going to snap this dress up and look perfectly vintage.

Leigh Fair!

Thank you to everyone that popped by on Saturday. It was a really great day, very busy and lots of lovely stalls!

And best of all, I had so many comments on how lovely my stock was. And how it was a little different to all the other stalls.

I sold lots of enamel kitchen ware, cups and saucers and jelly moulds. It is fab to get feedback from my customers as now I am going to look out for things that seem very popular, so will keep you posted with lots of lovely finds as and when.

Can't wait for the next one!

And when she got there the cupboard was bare...

SOOOOOOOOO...I have been a little slack and haven't put any new stock on here for ages! And my poor little 'shop' tab is looking rather sparse!

I PROMISE LATER TODAY THERE WILL BE SOME LITTLE BEAUTIES TO FEAST YOUR EYES UPON!

Glorious Glass..

For anyone that knows me personally, you will know that I LOVE vintage glass. Cakestands, bowls, trinkets, glasses...the list is endless!

And just to add to my obsession I am developing a slight fixation with glass jars! Inexpensive, versatile and they look sooooooo pretty.

I am constantly looking in charity shops and bootsales. I even found myself in Sainsbury's today looking at the jam. (To see if any of the jam jars would be suitable for a little thrifty makeover!).

Have a little look at these charming pictures, that I found online, and you will see why!!

They make such delightful decorations and what's more you can add your own little touch to them, adapting to each and every room.
Which just goes to show you really don't need to spend a ridiculous amount of money to make your home feel special, not at all!

Happy thrifting!

Vintage Lily xx

Lily Allen's wedding dress, one word: Breathtaking!

I wouldn't normally blog about a dress, as this is a homeware blog, but this wedding dress screams vintage.

Designed by French designer Delphine Manivet, Lily looked beautiful!
The veil reminds me of the 20's, very flapper-esque. The delicate lace, country style bouquet and sweetheart neckline with lace overlay completes the whole look. And I love it! Infact I now want to get married again and copy the look!

I had to find some actual 1920's wedding dresses after loooking at Lily's, and aren't they just delightful! I should have been a 20's bride!

Such elegant brides. Pure vintage romance. Exquisite.

Mollie Makes!

Today I bought my first issue of 'Mollie Makes'. A fab magazine full of wonderful crafty ideas and vintage interiors.

After reading about Sarah Mahon I just had to blog about her!
Her beautiful little cottage is filled with some amazing vintage treasures. I want to live there!
With a mix of thrift, recycling and make do and mend she has created an epitome of true traditional style.
I especially love that she gets her inspiration from the memories of her grandmothers house, which is exactly what I do! There is nothing more comforting than to surround yourself with familar, 'grannies house' goodies. Think crochet blankets, scullery style kitchen and Fair Isle knitwear.

Picture from the retro knitting company.

You will need to buy the magazine to see some pictures of Sarah's house as I cannot find any online!

Sarah is also the owner of 'Girls Own Store', selling vintage and retro goods, www.girlsownstore.co.uk and has a splendid blog http://www.girlsownstore.co.uk/vintage-homewear/
Amazing home, amazing shop, amazing blog! Definitely one for the vintage housewives out there, I know I'll regularly be stopping by now!
